Alderwood PTA could not exist without our exceptional volunteers! Whether you have 15 minutes or 5 hours to spare, the PTA would benefit from any time or talent that you have to offer.

ACE (Afterschool Classroom Enrichment) Program | Available on the school campus right after school, the ACE program provides high-quality, after school enrichment education to Irvine's public school children. Each semester, thousands of children participate through ACE in science, math, fine arts, technology, and much more. By offering classes in areas not available during school hours, IPSF's ACE Program helps to greatly enrich the diversity of educational experiences available to our kids. This is an amazing program sponsored by IPSF but is at risk of being eliminated at Alderwood if we don't get volunteers to help administer the program. Book Fair | Committee members are needed to help facilitate the school library’s fall and spring fundraiser! Chairs are needed to decorate/choose a theme, coordinate the volunteers, coordinate let’s do lunch, and help order books throughout the week of the fair! | Volunteers needed for a week in the late fall and a week in early spring |
Family Fun Night | Volunteers needed to organize games, cake walks, and much more. | Volunteers needed in early fall. |
Guy Stuff | An informative presentation for 6th grade boys and their fathers or a male relative about puberty and how they change physically and emotionally when they grow up. It is usually on an evening in the Fall. Refreshments will be served. We will need volunteers to help with invitations, food, booking a speaker, and decorations. We will also need 5th grade fathers to help serve. | Volunteers needed in the early winter |
Hearing and Vision Testing | Assisting students in their vision/hearing testing | One day of volunteering during school day |
Holiday Boutique | Alderwood Elementary’s annual holiday boutique is a great way to have children learn to budget and purchase gifts for their loved ones. Committee members needed to set up and help the kids throughout the week. | Volunteers needed for one week in December |
Hospitality | This committee is instrumental in helping all families at Alderwood Elementary feel welcome. They accomplish this by inviting new families to Coffee with the Principal, inviting them to the most recent PTA event, providing baked goods as requested for PTA events, etc. They also coordinate a Back-to-School Coffee and a New Family Welcome Event. | Volunteers needed all year long |
International Night | International Night is an opportunity for Alderwood families to learn about different cultures by experiencing treats from various countries, a parade of countries, and a talent show. | Volunteers needed in the early spring to help exhibit student inventions and turn in entries to the IUSD competition |
Jog A Thon / Read A Thon | As the largest fundraisers for the school year, committee members are needed to coordinate the volunteers at the event, obtain sponsorships, order and design apparel, collect donations from the students and their families, run the tabulation room, order prizes, and much more! | Volunteers needed in the late fall/early winter |
Math Club | Coaches needed to help the kids with weekly math club meetings and prepartion for math competitions. | Volunteers needed all year long. |

Mother Daughter Tea | An evening for 5th grade girls with their mothers or a female relative featuring a presentation about puberty and the physical and emotional changes it will bring sponsored by the PTA. It is usually on an evening in the spring. Refreshments will be served. We will need volunteers to help with invitations, food, booking a speaker, and decorations. We will also need 4th grade moms to help serve. | Volunteers needed in late spring. |
Picture Day | Assist the teachers/staff to ensure all children take school pictures | Volunteers needed one day in early fall |
Pledge Drive | As one of the primary fundraisers for the school year, volunteers are needed to tabulate class participation and collect donations, as well as encouraging 100% PTA membership of all Alderwood families! | Volnteers needed in the early fall |
Red Ribbon Week | Assist in preparing activities for this drug awareness campaign one week in October. | Volunteers needed in early fall |
Reflections | Volunteers needed in the fall to help exhibit student artwork and turn in entries to the Irvine PTA Reflections Committee. | Volunteers needed in the early fall |

Silent Auction/Carnival | Our annual spring carnival is a PTA sponsored event intended to help bring the community together for a fun night of games and friendship. Many committee members needed to help plan and run the carnival. Yearbook | This committee produces an annual Alderwood Elementary yearbook available for purchase by students and staff, and delivered in June. The yearbook features every class, specialist, and school group. It also highlights other activities that occur during the school year. | Volunteers needed all year long. |
