Red Ribbon Week
RED RIBBON WEEK 2021
Purpose of Red Ribbon Week:
The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to instill healthy decision making for your mind and body at an early age. Not only is this week a reminder to stay away from drugs and alcohol but it’s also an opportunity to create more mindful habits for our students and families.
Be the best OWL star you can be by participating in each of the activities listed below. Have fun & make healthy choices!
MONDAY, OCT 25 - WEAR RED DAY
Kick off the week wearing RED!
- Healthy Habit: Perform a random act of kindness for someone in your community. For example, drop off flowers for a neighbor, make something special for someone on your street, or simply give a compliment.
TUESDAY, OCT 26 – TIE-DYE CLOTHES
Dress up in your coolest tie-dye clothes.
- Healthy Habit: Unplug with your family for one hour – tuck those screens in a drawer! Instead, spend quality time as a family and ask each other questions, play a board game, or work on a puzzle.
WEDNESDAY, OCT 27– WACKY CLOTHES
Be wacky and wear your clothes backwards or inside out.
- Healthy Habit: Make a choice to walk to school instead of driving. Or if you must drive then park your car a little further to get some extra sun.
THURSDAY, OCT 28 – CRAZY HAIR/HAT DAY
Get wild with a crazy hairstyle or hat.
- Healthy Habit: Yoga is an excellent way to connect with your body and bring more mindfulness into your day. Spend the evening practicing yoga as a family. Check out Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube for some great videos.
FRIDAY, OCT 29 – HALLOWEEN COSTUME
Wear a Halloween costume or seasonal attire.
Healthy Habit: Cook a meal with your family. Simple family meal ideas include making pizza or tacos. Get creative in the kitchen and make something healthy to eat.
